Ring-tailed Lemur (Rambo)
Hey hey, my name is Rambo! I’m a ring-tailed lemur and my home is on Bindi’s Island here at Australia Zoo. I was born at Taronga Western Plains Zoo in 2017 and moved here in 2019 to live in a troop with 11 other lemurs. In the mornings, my lemur friends and I like to sit on the grass with our arms wide-open, soaking up the morning sun and enjoying conversations with each other. We can use up 25 different vocalisations to communicate, so as you can imagine we are quite a noisy bunch!
When you come and visit me on Bindi’s Island, be sure to look up! I love to climb the tallest trees and use my beautiful tail for balance when walking along the branches and jumping from tree to tree. I’m always trying to find the best sun spots and the juiciest leaves. My lemur friends and I have quite an appetite! We will eat all the leaves and flowers that grow naturally in our habitat, but our keepers also bring some yummy treats including corn, sweet potato, peas and carrots.
In the wild, we are only found in southern and south-western forests of Madagascar. Unfortunately my friends and I are critically endangered due to deforestation of our environment for agriculture and farm land. By adopting me you are helping to raise awareness and spread the important message of conservation.

^ The encounter is subject to availability and must be pre-booked. Restrictions based on age, group size, and specific animals apply. Please note that encounters with some animals are not possible due to health and safety regulations (they include: saltwater crocodiles, tigers, elephants, snakes and iguanas); an alternative animal encounter will be substituted.
Please note: While all of the animals available for adoption are usually on display at the Zoo and/or participate in encounters, adopting an animal does not guarantee the chance of seeing or meeting them if visiting the Zoo. Animal availability is subject to change; there may be times when animals may be temporarily off display due to unforeseen circumstances, such as veterinary check-ups or habitat maintenance. If booking one of our amazing animal encounters to meet your adoptee, please advise staff of the animal you adopt at the time of booking.
Animal adoptions and associated elements are non-refundable, non-transferable and not redeemable for cash.
It is important to note that adopting an animal does not provide a company or organisation license to promote Australia Zoo across their channels. If you desire to include in advertising and/or collateral including your website, further discussions will be required. If interested, please let us know and we can organise a meeting. Thank you again for your support!
*Please allow up to 3 weeks for the delivery of your gift pack, if applicable.
