Following the conclusion of the IPL 2022, India will play South Africa in a five-match T20I series. The series begins on June 9 in Delhi with the first T20I. Cuttack, Vishakhapatnam, Rajkot, and Bangalore will host the following four games on June 12, 14, 17, and 19, respectively.
The series acts as a warm-up for the T20 World Cup, which will be held in Australia later this year. The players chosen for this group have the opportunity to perform to their full capacity and earn a spot on the trip to Australia.
- Bhuvneshwar Kumar
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been plagued by injury difficulties of late. If he wants to, the series may be the final one. He may concentrate on his One-Day International career and retire from the shorter format of the game. Bhuvi can also fight hard to reclaim his place in the Indian Test team.
- Dinesh Karthik
Given his steady performances in the ongoing IPL season, the experienced wicket-keeper batsman has been returned into the side. He’s hit roughly 300 home runs only as a finisher. Karthik has expressed his intention to play in the T20 World Cup before retiring from cricket. However, if he does not have a strong series with the bat for his team, he may be forced to retire.
- Axar Patel
Since his debut in 2014, the left-arm spinner has only played 38 ODIs, 15 T20Is, and six Test matches for India. Last year, he played his final T20I against the Kiwis in Kolkata. He’s had a sporadic international career, and the left-arm spinner might consider retiring from the format in order to extend his ODI and Test careers.
