Mahmudullah Winning captain
This was very required; the hitters’ aim was clear, and they did an excellent job, as did the bowlers. We were worried about two things: first, if we get off to a good start, we can really do well; second, if we get off to a good start, we can really do well; here is where the concentration is. We must find a medium ground, interact with others, and begin to perform successfully.
Assad Vala Losing captain
They gained a lot of momentum towards the finish, which was essential. We had been doing great up until that point; they started off strong on the powerplay, but we were able to hold them off. However, they shown their expertise and deserved to win. We didn’t find a way to play certain circumstances, which maybe demonstrates a lack of confidence – but we’ll learn from it and do better in the future. We’ve learned a lot from this tournament; one thing we’ve learned is how to execute under pressure against excellent opponents; we weren’t good enough there. We haven’t played at this level before, but the good news is that we’ll learn from our mistakes and improve in the future.
Shakib Al Hasan Player of the Match
With each game, I gain confidence. In the T20 format, the player who performs well on the day has a chance to win. We can play with greater freedom and express ourselves now that the pressure is gone. It’s not easy to regain form, but I’m getting more chances to bat higher in the order here. It’s been a long season, and I’ve been playing nonstop cricket, so maybe I can win this (T20 World Cup).
Bangladesh has climbed to the top of the table, at least for the time being, after an 84-run victory. If Oman defeats Scotland without a thrashing, they will remain in Group A, which includes India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, New Zealand, and A2. Otherwise, they’ll be sent to the opposite group. Today’s performance was convincing; they were always expected to thrash PNG, and they did it without incident. They won the toss, scored well above par, and never seemed like they were going to let their opponents off the leash in the pursuit. Shakib took four wickets and was named Player of the Match. If there’s one issue, it’d be that they weren’t able to finish this one sooner, especially after having PNG at 29 for 7. But that’ll have to wait. For the time being, they may enjoy the moment and prepare for the upcoming challenges.
