SL has achieved qualification! That is the major development. They had to cope with a lot of humiliation since they didn’t qualify automatically, but owing to two emphatic wins, they were able to qualify swiftly. Ireland, on the other hand, will be disappointed after tonight’s performance. On Friday, they still have a chance to make a comeback. Hasaranga made the difference because he was fearless with both the bat and the ball. SL’s pacers did a fantastic job of putting Ireland on the back foot. That concludes the day, as it has been another action-packed day! We’ll talk again shortly.

Dasun Shanaka

We were a little concerned. For us, the top-order has been a source of anxiety. Prior to the WC, we devised a method to put Hasaranga to the top of the ranking. Having fast pacers is a wonderful pleasure. They are also correct. Coaches deserve credit as well. We need to enhance our top-order play as well as our fielding.

Andrew Balbirnie

We got off to a good start. With the Dutch, we had a lot of success. They did well because we had a good start with the ball and a good finish. Josh was a fantastic find for us. We clawed our way back in the end after they played well in the middle. We’re looking forward to Friday’s game.

Wanindu Hasaranga Player of the Match

When I first walked up to bat, I attempted to allow myself some breathing room before deciding how to go. After that, I was able to accelerate. I like to consider myself a batting all-rounder. (In Sinhalese, thank you SL supporters)

As soon as they’re done, SL will be ecstatic. Their bowling and fielding did not complement each other. However, they were able to win by 70 runs. In the middle overs, their spinners were fantastic. Their pacers also possessed a lot of power. It’s a shame they have to play qualifications, but despite a few flaws, SL appear to be in decent shape. In the batting department, Hasaranga and Nissanka held it together. Seamers and spinners both shared the ruins with the ball. A second win for SL would be devastating for Ireland, since it would have lowered their NRR. Ireland cannot afford any more mistakes, while SL must avoid becoming comfortable, since they have already qualified thanks to this victory. Next up is the presentation!
