The ICC reported Azam as stating, “We’ve been playing cricket in the UAE for the previous 3-4 years and we know the conditions extremely well.”
“We know how the wicket will play and how hitters will have to react. Whoever plays the best cricket on the day wins the match. If you ask me, I believe we will triumph “said the great batter, who will lead his first T20 World Cup and participate in his first T20 World Cup.
Following the 2009 terror assault on the Sri Lankan team, international teams were hesitant to travel Pakistan, citing security concerns as a reason.
Pakistan has never won a World Cup match against India in both ODIs and T20Is, but Azam is unconcerned, claiming that it is a relic of the past.
“We understand the pressure and tremendous intensity of each game, particularly the first. We’re hoping to win the game and keep the momentum going.
“Before a competition, your group’s belief and confidence are really important. Our team’s confidence and morale are at an all-time high. We are not considering the past, but rather the future. We’re getting ready for it.
He said, “I am absolutely sure that we are well prepared and will play terrific cricket on the day.”
“All the players have entered the side after a strong domestic performance,” Azam remarked of his team, which has a mix of youth and experience.
“We can learn a lot from the veteran players on the team since they have so much experience, having competed in the World Cup and leagues.
“We have 7-8 players in our team who have previously competed in the Champions Trophy, which gives them a new level of confidence.”
Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden and South African bowler Vernon Philander have been named as the team’s batting and bowling advisors for the event.
“Hayden and Philander both bring a wealth of expertise to the table. Our goal will be to learn as much as possible from them as fast as possible. The guys are able to absorb and mingle with them fast.
“As you can see, Philander has already begun working hard with the bowlers, and as you can see from the past, bowlers have consistently won tournaments. In the Champions Trophy, Hasan Ali was our best bowler. He’ll be accompanied by his bowling team “Azam said.
In Dubai and Abu Dhabi, Pakistan will play warm-up matches against the West Indies on October 18 and South Africa on October 20.
