Rajkumar Sharma, Virat Kohli’s childhood coach, has given a warning to Squad India and Rohit Sharma, claiming that the team is not “completely prepared” for the T20 World Cup in Australia in 2022 owing to a slew of changes made to the side in every bilateral series.

Following the Men in Blue’s third straight T20I series clean sweep, Sharma made the remark on the “Khelneeti” podcast. The hosts thrashed Sri Lanka after defeating New Zealand and the West Indies.
I don’t believe the team is totally prepared; there is still more work to be done. Our strongest XI has only played a few of times since players are sometimes injured or given rest. Bumrah isn’t always available, and Virat Kohli isn’t always available, but Rohit Sharma has returned after regaining fitness.”
“You’re still in experimental mode until you’ve determined on a core XI that you’ll use in the first match. Ishan Kishan was being tested in lieu of Rishabh Pant, who was not playing. Only after you’ve played your XI will you realise what your weaknesses are and where you need to improve, Sharma said.
Finally, despite the uncertainty at the top of the order, Sharma, who is presently the coach of Delhi, believes IPL 2022 will play a significant part in selecting the roster for the premier event.
“As you can see, the opening combination is still up in the air. Whether Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, or Shikhar Dhawan will begin alongside Rohit Sharma is still a gamble. So there are a lot of things to improve on, and the decisions will be made until after the South Africa series or the Asia Cup, with the IPL form factoring into the choices.”
